Security Contribution FAQ

What is this optional Security Contribution donation and why have we implemented it now?

You may notice that you’ve been asked to contribute $360 for security. With the state of the world right now, Jewish institutions worldwide have had to take action to promote the security and safety of the community. Here at IKAR, this has taken the form of additional security guards at events/services, new security badges for entry, additional training for staff, and engaging with security consultants to review and implement best practices to enhance our physical security needs.

We discussed how to increase our budget for security efforts, without making membership feel like a financial burden, and we decided to implement an optional $360 Security Contribution that will cover a portion of our increased security costs.

We recognize that $360 is not feasible for some members. If you are able to contribute a different amount to our Security Fund, please click here.

If you have any questions about our security efforts, please email us at 411@ikar.org.

Why can’t I add my Security Contribution to my pledge?

Due to the limitations of our current Membership Registration software (we promise we are working on getting a much better system for next year), it is not possible to add the $360 Security Contribution directly to a pledge with installments. For an installment pledge with a Security Contribution included, the $360 will be charged upon submission of the form.

If you are paying with a check, or in one lump sum, you do not need to worry about this.

Thank you for your contribution!
